Adventure Camp for Local Elementary and Middle Schoolers

Do you know a child who would love our Adventure Camp this July? The first week will be for rising 4th & 5th graders and the second week will be designated for rising 6th-8th graders. These day camps will run on AdventureServe campgrounds where kids will have the opportunity to learn outdoor skills, practice teamwork, leadership, critical thinking, and just have fun in nature! We are preparing this program with thorough health precautions in place to ensure the best environment so that everyone can enjoy these activities safely.

The first camp will be July 5th-9th while the second week will be July 12th-16th. If you have a child interested in rock climbing, caving, orienteering, cooking over fires, and other outdoor skills, then sign them up early at the link below! Seeking Highschool Interns for ASM Apprenticeship Program this Summer

We are looking for self-motivated, hardworking, adventure-seeking High School students (Rising 9th Grade - Graduated 12th Grade) to join the Apprenticeship Program this summer. Apprentices are a crucial part of the AdventureServe team during the busy summer months. They work behind the scenes around camp to make sure that all facilities, equipment, and supplies are ready to go. They also support groups out in the field on various wilderness activities and home repair projects. The apprentice job description is diverse: they do everything from laundry and trash collection to belaying rock climbers and finishing a tin roof installation.

Training for Apprentices will run June 8th through the 10th where participants will receive about 18 hours of training. Skills gained through the summer are Rock Climbing, Rappelling, Canoeing, Home Repair, Camp Maintenance, Leadership, and Communication. It will provide the perfect background experience for their first job application! The program concludes on Friday, July 30th. Within this time frame, we ask that apprentices set aside a minimum of 16 weekly service hours for a total of 6 weeks throughout the summer. That’s a minimum of 96 service hours for the summer. Service weeks do not have to be consecutive. If you know someone interested in this program, check out the link below!

Solar Powered Offices on Camp

In 2018, we had 24 solar panels installed on our Bell office building at AdventureServe with the help of Dale Shunk from Solar Samaritans, and Mary Miller of Blessed Earth (who also serves as an ASM board member). We recently received a report detailing the benefits of these solar panels! It is estimated that we have saved about 1 acre of trees and 14 tons of carbon! Our electricity bill has also gone down over 20%! We are so thankful for this green solution that helps us reduce our carbon footprint as well as save money on electricity bills. We all have a significant potential for impact (positive and negative) on the earth God has given us to steward. Let’s all do what we can to care for God’s beautiful creation which we enjoy and depend upon!
